Be Sober

Be Sober

It may not be popular...But God’s Word says to live.... Soberly

Soberly Definition: Not intoxicated or affected by the use of alcohol or drugs. There are many verses in the Bible about being Sober.

I know the Bible says a little wine for your stomach and “often infirmities”  (1 Timothy 5:23) but my goodness Professing Christians are GOING IN nowadays where it is way beyond this. It is now just drinking and being intoxicated in a worldly way.

Little is out the door and now it is just drunk. Ephesians 5:18 says, Be not drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit.

Lord Jesus fill us with your Spirit so we won’t have to get drunk. Soberly isn’t just dealing with what we put in our body. It includes our character and how we live too.
Righteously
Godly
Deny Ungodliness
Deny Worldly Lusts

Especially if we desire our destination to lead to Heaven....

It is becoming more popular to try to do both....Confess we are Christians but still live the opposite of this verse.

Well...It may seem ok now....
But see 1 Peter 4:17-19....

“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 1 Peter‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬
There are 3 categories in this verse.
I am describing these according to what came to my heart....

#Righteous: Have to press hard to stay saved and not be drawn in because it says they’ll scarcely be saved....Those who will actually hang in and live right and serve God wholeheartedly.

#Ungodly:Profess to be saved and godly but not living it. Doesn’t really serve God. Life is too busy for God. But again says it...says I love the Lord and I’m a Christian but their life is the opposite of Godly.

#Sinner: Just not saved and not trying to be. Ungodly life and doesn’t care to change or seek forgiveness & new Life in Christ.

This verse is just something to think about as we live our daily life. Many are nonchalant about our spiritual walk and feel it isn’t important. We may not think about it since we’re doing “our thing” in life...

My blog for today is to give a friendly, spiritual  reminder to think about where we truly are and where we are going...
